Johnny Ray joined Detring Energy Advisors in August 2025 as a Geology
Associate.
Prior to joining Detring Energy Advisors, Johnny Ray worked for Halliburton
Energy Services as a geology and geophysics analyst and M/LWD engineer.
After graduate school he worked for Pioneer Natural Resources and
ExxonMobil in operations geology, subsurface technology, and development
geology roles focusing on the Permian Basin.
Johnny Ray holds a B.A. in Geoscience with Honors from Williams College
and an M.S. in Geology from New Mexico Institute of Mining and
Technology
